- Only appropriately trained operators are allowed to operate mobile plant
- Daily inspection records of mobile plant by qualified plant operatives will be required
- Overhead obstructions must be identified and protected as required by HSE GS6
- All plant and equipment must be immobilised when not in use or unattended for any period of time
- All visibility devices must be maintained in effective working order
- All mobile site plant must be equipped with either a drivers cab or ROPS. ROPS must be reinstated after passing under height restricted obstructions
- Proprietary restraint belts must be used by operators where so provided, unless otherwise specifically risk assessed
- The use of mobile phones while operating plant and equipment is prohibited
- Any maintenance activities on such plant must be carried out in a designated or segregated area. The fitter should observe site requirements for PPE, proof of training and provide evidence of relevant risk assessments / method statements
- Passengers must not be carried on any vehicle unless the vehicle is designed for that purpose. If designed for carrying passengers a seat belt should be provided and used.
- If plant is used on public roads the operator must have a valid driver’s licence and the vehicle should be taxed and insured.
